Hiringa Energy has been announced as a finalist for the Low Carbon Future Award at the New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards for their Green Hydrogen Refuelling Network. This award category is sponsored by Energy Resources Aotearoa as a part of the 14th New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards which will be held in Auckland on the 28th of August 2024.
Hiringa’s refuelling network provides coverage for the key heavy freight routes in NZ and is powered by renewable electricity. The hydrogen is made onsite by using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen through a process called electrolysis. The hydrogen is then compressed and stored onsite before being dispensed into heavy vehicles.
With three Green Hydrogen Refuelling stations currently operating in the North Island, another coming online before the end of 2024 and plans to expand the network across New Zealand, Hiringa are leading the way in decarbonising the heavy transport sector in New Zealand by providing a viable low carbon alternative to diesel for companies wanting to decarbonise their supply chain.
