DEVELOPING THE TRANSPORT MARKET
There are multiple hydrogen-powered vehicle options available for purchase or lease in New Zealand. Hiringa works closely with all OEMs and integrators to ensure hydrogen refuelling stations are compatible with all vehicles and the latest products coming to market.
Government subsidies are now available for transport operators purchasing hydrogen vehicles. The EECA Low Emissions Heavy Vehicle Fund can contribute up to 25% of the purchase price of new Fuel Cell vehicles, or 25% of the cost of converting an existing truck to a hydrogen dual fuel engine. CHICKEN OR
THE EGG?
The adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology requires a collaborative approach from organisations willing to decarbonise their operations.
A bit like the chicken or the egg scenario - once can't exist without the other. While we are building New Zealand's hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, we're helping facilitate the development and implementation of clean vehicle technology to utilise the clean freight fuel we're producing.
GOVERNMENT COMMITMENT
The New Zealand Government is encouraging uptake of hydrogen transport by helping to finance both hydrogen refuelling infrastructure and hydrogen vehicle procurement.
The $130 million Climate Emergency Response Fund has helped to support our hydrogen refuelling network, and the $30 million EECA Low Emissions Heavy Vehicle Fund can help transport operators to reduce the cost of acquiring hydrogen vehicles.
We continue to work alongside the government to support favourable policy change and regulatory enablement, all of which provides confidence in hydrogen’s future as a key tool in decarbonising the transport industry.
OUR
DRIVE
Taking one heavy diesel truck off our roads will have the same carbon reduction impact as removing 150 passenger vehicles.
We're driven to implement our green hydrogen refuelling network and facilitate the update of green hydrogen as a clean fuel source.
We work with local and international vendors to accelerate the rollout of fuel cell technology across the globe.
